Does High Speed sympatico provide a VPN Server or VPN address for secure connections for surfing the internet?
Still learning about this feature and I want to use it when I use my account. |

No, VPN needs a back end to connect to via front end software (or hardware). it's normally used with companies to allow emplyees to connect to their work networks etc. _________________ Bob

Thanks for your reply. However, since I already use a firewall for security purposes, are there any other options other then VPN for safe surfing? I hear VPN does provides good security for point to point tunnelling and would like to make use of this technology. Could you elaborate more on this for me? Any way I could still use this as part of my browsing experience?

The thing we need to emphasize on is point to point. VPN is not really useful for anything other than encrypting data from 1 point to another. IF your gonna be surfing sites at random, then either u can -
1. set up a vpn server in say china, vpn to it and then go about browsing the net, or
2. use an anonymous proxy
Both solns will tend to give u problems if u use certain apps that require to have a "clean" net connection. |
