New Shaw Secure to Offer Best Internet Defense and Protection; Shaw to Offer Total Security Software for Internet Customers

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(CCNMatthews - Dec. 1, 2004) - Protection, privacy and peace of mind are the key features behind the launch of Shaw Secure, the company's new comprehensive security package.
All current Shaw Internet customers will receive this security software free for six months when they sign-up for Shaw Secure by visiting start.shaw.ca. New Shaw customers will also receive six free months of Shaw Secure when they sign-up for any of Shaw's three residential High-Speed Internet services. At the conclusion of their free six months, customers will pay just $4.95 per month. Shaw Business Internet customers can also take advantage of Shaw Secure and sign-up to protect their critical business data and systems.
With Shaw Secure, customers subscribe to a complete computer security suite with anti-virus, firewall, parental control, spam control, pop-up blocker, and anti-spyware combined into a single, easy-to-use product. The service checks for virus updates on an hourly basis through the customer's always-on Internet connection, and provides useful information and descriptions of current threats and emerging viruses. Driven by an intuitive graphic interface that allows customers to select their preferences and individual settings, the software package is a quick and easy download that immediately puts users in a protected, secure environment.
"Security concerns are on the minds of virtually every Internet user, and we want our customers to be able to use the Internet confidently and securely," said Peter Bissonnette, President of Shaw Communications. "This new service is embedded in our Internet product and will be constantly updated to give our customers the peace of mind they're looking for."
Earlier this year, Shaw launched the highly popular Shaw Email Filter to help customers control unwanted email spam and email-delivered viruses. Shaw Secure will provide additional protection, control and functionality for the company's Internet customers.
Bissonnette added that, unlike some security packages that charge fees of up to $90 per year for each computer, a subscription to Shaw Secure covers up to three computers a customer has connected to Shaw High-Speed Internet. "More and more families have multiple computers in their homes, and one subscription to Shaw Secure is all they need," he said.
The company behind Shaw Secure is F-Secure. Founded in 1988, F-Secure has won multiple awards for its security products and is recognized as a market leader for its quick response to new viruses and Internet attacks.
